Triptorelin Acetate is a synthetic decapeptide and a potent agonist of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH).  With the amino acid sequence pGlu-His-Trp-Ser-Tyr-D-Trp-Leu-Arg-Pro-Gly-NH₂, it is more potent and stable than natural GnRH due to a D-tryptophan substitution at position 6. 

It works by initially stimulating the pituitary gland to release luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), causing a temporary surge in sex hormones (testosterone in men, estrogen in women). With continuous use, it downregulates GnRH receptors, leading to sustained suppression of LH and FSH, resulting in significantly reduced sex hormone levels—achieving a state of medical castration.
